In occidentional realistic tradition, particularly in the epoch of the Renaissance the Virgin was represented as the image of the Virgin of Tandemess. The principal difference of the oriental and occidentional traditions consists in different interpretation of the relations of the Madonna and Child. In the Madonna of Vladimir the Child is turned to the Virgin as a source of the Grace coming from the God the Father. The occidentional tradition underlines the Madonna giving all her love and tenderness the Son of God. In this miniature the painter tried to reflect the occidentional tradition. It permits to penetrate in a deep way to the essence of that life which we call "Christianity".
